Sri Lanka joins forces for World MS Day 2012
A seminar held on the 30th May at the Sri Lanka Medical Association brought some 100 nurses and physiotherapists together to learn how best to train MS caregivers in home care and to reinforce the importance of physiotherapy in MS rehabilitation.
Two get-together lunches for people with MS and their caregivers were also held in June. The lunches took place in Colombo and Kandy and provided the MS community with the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of physiotherapy as well as partaking in discussions and games. On Saturday 2nd June the first get-together was held at the Baptist Church Hall in Colombo 7. The Chief Guest was Dr Udaya Ranawaka, Consultant Neurologist who talked to the patients about MS and coping with the disease. The second meeting was held on the 16th June with Mr Callister Jayamanne, Director, National Secretariat for People with Disability as key speaker.
