In the weeks leading up to the event representatives from organisations representing the interests of persons with disabilities in Uruguay worked together to draft a statement related to the rights of persons with disabilities.

This statement was read out to the City Mayor on the steps of City Hall and directed at key decision makers in Montevideo.
Disabled advocates who wanted to take part in the action waited at the steps of the City hall to greet those who had marched through the city. Following the  reading of the statement local musicians stepped in to entertain the crowd.
The City Mayor, Ana Olivera, will also inaugurate the 12th annual “Montevideo Integra” exposition held every year in December. This year the event will take place from 3 to 7 December 2012. EMUR will be there  – find them at stand 18 – handing outinformation about MS including personal stories and information. Local handcrafts are also on sale to raise funds for the organisation.
