A week of events in Cyprus to mark WMSD 2012

The Cyprus MS Society this year held several events in celebration of World MS Day, commencing on the 27^th May with a musical evening. The event, which took place at Lavezin restaurant in Dherynia was attended by the friends of the association and the Mayor of Deryneia. On the 30^th May a press conference was held in the Ministry of Health, and the speakers included the President of the Board of the Association, the Minister of Communications and Works, Representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance.

Celebrations continued on the 1^stJune with another social event at Hilton park in Nicosia. Mrs Elsie Christofias, the first lady, attended along with members of the house of representatives and music was provided by the Love choir.

On the 2^nd and 3^rd of June scientific meetings were held by the Cyprus Association for Multiple Sclerosis and featured specialists from the fields of neurology, psychology and social inclusion as keynote speakers. The Minister of Health Dr Stavros Malas, and the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Mrs Sotiroulla Charalambous both attended the talks.

Finally, a tea and coffee afternoon was held at the Aloe hotel in Paphos, on the 1^st June and was attended by members of the association.
