MS doesn’t stop me learning new things
Marcia, 58, Brazil
I was diagnosed with MS 18 years ago. My first symptom was vision problems and I was really scared at the thought of losing my sight because I’ve always loved reading.
Sometimes I have trouble walking, so for Christmas I bought myself a new frame. Some people think it’s a shopping trolley or something to carry pets in. Some people say it’s too big and ugly, but I don’t mind. What matters is that it makes me feel safe.
I used to be a bank manager but I had to retire due to my MS. That meant I had more time to spend with my daughters. I also began using my time to study new topics like history, sociology, astrology, cookery and painting. A few years ago one of my daughters asked me ‘why not enrol in college?’ So I did!
