The MS Society of India (MSSI) works through local chapters all over the country and their work has caught the eye of Resul Pookutty, a world class sound engineer and Oscar winner. Mr Pookutty says,

Celebrating World MS Day is a fantastic way of highlighting, collaborating and creating solidarity for global action against MS. The focal point of World MS Day, to create an MS movement worldwide to support and comfort people affected by MS, is very commendable. We all join hands and look forward to manifold awareness of MS universally. I support the World MS Day and congratulate the world MS societies who persuade and facilitate people with MS to lead a life of quality and dignity! Continue the good work!

Mahesh Bhat, a Bollywood film directer and producer also offered his support to the global movement. He said,

I salute the spirit and the audacity of the MS Society of India for serving our brothers and sisters who have been hit by this challenging affliction. With no financial help from government, nor public insurance for those who have MS, the MS Society of India has been reaching out to those for whom medical consultation charges and treatment are beyond their means. In our country where very often, people who come from a deprived background bear their MS ‘cross’ silently, the MS Society of India is providing them dignity in their hour of need.

Bipasha Gupta, the National Secretary of the MSSI is a key contributor to the global movement to end MS. She believes that being part of a global movement is particularly important for all MS societies,

India has joined and responded to the MS movement for concerted global answers to the disease from governments and employers. The MSSI is hoping to reach out to as many different target groups as possible, including government, corporate bodies, state-owned enterprises and individuals affected by MS. Joining World MS Day gives a real global inclusion for MSSI and we have worked with full enthusiasm for World MS Day 2010.

World renowned Yoga Acharya, BKS Iyengar, will be the chief guest at activities organised by MSSI on 26 May.
