People with MS celebrate World MS Day in Egypt

2010 Employment

Almost 200 people joined a day’s worth of seminars and discussion at the Canadian International College in Cairo to celebrate World MS Day 2010

A 4 hour planned activity turned into 8 hours when people living with MS, their friends and family, came together to join the global movement to end MS.

At 12 p.m. private buses brought guests from their homes to the Canadian International College in Cairo for a dedicated event for MS patients and their families. 186 guests attended the event including several doctors specialising in the field of neurological diseases. T-shirts were distributed as a gift to participants and an outdoor lunch with the opportunity to socialise with new friends was the highlight of the day.

Representatives from health insurance companies and civil servants from the Ministry were also invited in order to raise awareness and knowledge about MS and the effects that MS has on individuals.

The world champion of taykondo, Amr Khairy, was also there to show his support.

Mai Sharawy, Professor of Opthalmology at Cairo University, was thrilled with the turnout at the event and is planning more activities to take place on the 26th including the distribution of public awareness leaflets at McDonalds restaurants and Cilantro coffee shops around the city.
