“Kiss goodbye to MS” – Queensland, Australia
In Brisbane city MS Australia – QLD will be holding a “Kiss Goodbye to MS” event, to help raise awareness of how MS can affect women between the ages of 20 and 40. Their MS Support Groups, made up of people living with MS, will be fundraising through the sale of Kiss Goodbye to MS badges and lolly bags. All the money they raise will go towards providing support for those living with MS in the local area.
Other events include a roundtable, which will be taking place on the 31st May at the KPMG offices in Brisbane. Attendance is expected by senior politicians and decision-makers who will be taking part in a discussion about the issues surrounding MS and work.
They are also holding a formal reception on the 24th May, which will be hosted by the Governor of Queensland. Attendance from key supports and donors for MS day is expected and during the reception – which will be at Government House in Brisbane – they will be holding a MS Heroes award. This will be a celebration of employers who have gone out of their way to support employees with MS. Nominations for employers can be made on their website (details below).
The hero theme continues with a series of films created by a local film producer, telling the stories of 3 people living with MS and how it affects their working life. They will be engaging with the media using these films to generate state-wide awareness of World MS Day throughout May.
